Altitude could have been
a factor in crossing a 10,000-foot pass to get to Cedar City, UT, but
the snow was plowed, making it an easy drive.
At the summit, we found a frozen lake, covered with snow. Our plan was to head for Las Vegas the next day with a stop
at Zion National Park. It
was snowing when we woke and the ranger at the northwest entrance to the
park suggested we go to the southeast entrance, which is at least 2,000
feet lower. When we arrived
there, we found that a few rain clouds couldn’t keep the tourists
away. Zion has such crowds,
that these days the Park Service does not allow cars into the canyon.
Free trolleys run every ten minutes.
Because of the spring rains, there were waterfalls everywhere.
